The Heat Map report allows the user to view “Hot Spot” areas for online delivery orders.
A delivery order hotspot refers to a specific area or location that consistently generates a high volume of delivery orders. This is often due to factors such as high population density, a large number of residential buildings or offices, or a strong base of loyal customers within the area.
These hotspots are important for QSRs as they can significantly impact the efficiency and profitability of delivery operations. Identifying them allows restaurants to optimise their delivery strategy by allocating resources more effectively, analysing peak ordering times, and implementing targeted marketing to further increase order volumes.

Report filtering options
The report has the following available filters: (See Figure 2)
Date Range
Allows you to select the time period you want to view data for. This helps you analyse performance over a specific day, week, or custom date range.
Channels
Allows you to filter orders by the platform used to place them:
All Channels – Includes every order source
All Online – Includes website and app orders only
All Mobile – Includes mobile app orders (iOS and Android)
Web – Orders placed via the website
Call Centre – Orders placed via phone support
iOS – Orders placed via Apple devices
Android – Orders placed via Android devices
Weightings
The primary way of filtering this report is through “Weighting“. Weighting shows the distribution of orders on the heat map depending on what has been filtered.
Weighting determines how order activity is displayed on the heat map based on the selected metric. The available weighting filter options are as follows:
Transaction Count – Displays order distribution based on the number of orders placed. This shows where the highest volume of transactions is occurring.
Order Value – Displays order distribution based on the total monetary value of orders. This highlights areas generating the highest revenue.
New Customers – Displays order distribution based on first-time customers, helping identify areas where new customer acquisition is strongest.
Brand
This filter allows you to filter data by the store’s brand name.
Restaurant
This filter allows you to select a specific store or multiple stores to view data for.
Compare To
This filter allows the user to compare the store’s delivery performance with up to two different stores’ maps.
Figure 2
Once a Weighting type and a restaurant have been selected, the report will populate the map. The Heat Map will then display hotspot areas using a colour scale to differentiate the filtered order data.
Heat Map Colour Scale
The colour scale ranges from green to red, representing the two ends of the spectrum. In summary, the colours indicate the following:
Red areas represent high-density zones with a greater concentration of orders (higher “weight”) compared to other areas.
Yellow areas represent medium or average density zones within the heat map.
Green areas represent low-density zones with fewer orders (lower “weight”) within the overall data.

Additional Map Tools
The report includes additional tools to help you explore and navigate the data in more detail (See Figures 4 & 5).
Competitor Locations filter
Displays nearby competitor store locations on the map. This allows users to compare the proximity and density of competing stores within the same delivery area for strategic planning.
Reset All Option
Clears all selected filters and overlays on the map, returning the view to its default state. This allows users to restart their analysis with a clean map view.
